Default Plug gap for 300 shot.

Im upping my shot to a 300 shot in a couple of weeks when I go dyno and I am going to do my plugs before I go. What should I gap them at for that big of a shot?

****, he's right, the NGK-4117 is for a TR6.

I would actually recommend an Autolite plug over an NGK plug. The Autolite AR3935 or Autolite AR3934. The 34 is one step colder than the 35. Better safe than sorry.

There is variable used at each power level, but basically the bigger the hit the tighter the gap. You don't want the flame to blow out.

It's overall power level. Too much cylinder pressure with too little spark will cause the spark to not fire. The closer the gap on the spark plug, the easier it is to fire.

AND INDEX THOSE PLUGS PEOPLE! I CANNOT STRESS THAT ENOUGH! YOUR PLUGS MUST BE INDEXED!

I have successfully run, on my combo, TR6 150 & 175 shot at .038", .035" and .032". The 32 seemed a lil small for the 150, where as the 38 was a lil large for 175, so normally I gap them at 35 and swap shots depending on the pests I am dealing with!

Yeah Im curious as well about what he means by indexing. I have TR6s in it right now gapped @ .030 running my 200 shot and havent had any issues with it. If thats what I should gap the plugs for the 300 shot Ill just leave those in and do a practice run on the highway to make sure all is well.

Indexing means shimming the plug to get the electrode on plug in the optimum spot for best flame travel in combustion chamber. This is part of blue printing an engine for best VE.

There are kits you can buy with different thicknesses.

When indexing a plug the electrode gap should be pointed directly at the intake valve. Copper gaskets are used to correctly position the gap.

Plug indexing isn't as important on the ls1/ls6 as it was on past sbc's. the reason being is, plug is located near the center of chamber which allows flame to travel in a sherical pattern, equal in all directions, cancelling out possibility of queching. Old designs didn't have this benifit.
