maybe it's just because he lost a friendly run from a roll, but...
I get on the freeway from a two-lane on-ramp messing with a 993 Carrera-4 and there's this black SS on the freeway about 7 lengths back. I let the small fish go for a slightly bigger one and I see him narrowing the gap quickly.
I'm in lane 3 and he moves from lane 3 to lane 2 to pass; he's closing at a speed differential of about 20mph. I downshift to 3rd and apply moderate throttle to match speed. He doesn't slow; in fact i hear he's on it hard. ...So I grab 2nd and go WFO from about 50mph. He gets about half a length from inertia and I reel him in; pull about three lengths by the top of 3rd. He didn't have a chance.
So, I slow back down to give him the thumbs up for the run... and he rolls by looking dead ahead as if nothing happened. Then he goes WOT right after he passes me; so I dig in behind him to run up with him... and he BRAKE CHECKS me. TWICE. So I upshift to sixth and keep my distance. What a punk.
Here are his curriculę vitę:
1999 Camaro SS
Navy Blue Metallic
Clear corner markers (drivers side is out)
SLP Dual Dual exhaust
Number plate 616-KXJ
Driver is upper-30s Asian or Pacific islander.
If any of you know know this guy, tell him he's a goober. Don't brake check people at 70MPH. So unsportsmanlike.

What a jerk! The guy needs to give credit where it's due. I figure if you can beat me, you have a FAST car & should be told so. I'm never upset with the other guy when I lose (maybe with myself if I screwed up). But if you're going to be a prick when you lose, then don't race.

Damn. Some guys can't take a loss. I find that when I lose a hard roll on the freeway (which seems to be a lot :jest:) others don't even give me the time of day. I'll try to wave or give a thumbs up and they just cruise by not even looking.

I'm always amazed at some people's reactions to a loss ... and sometimes even when they win. It's like their entire self image is tied up in their car or something ? Truly baffles me. BTW Mark, what's it like when you lose anyway ? j/k ! lol !

What a doughball! Stupid move brake checking... what else can be said about that in polite company? Kinda' what I expect from a few sore snobbish LT1 Vette owners I've had the luck to beat, but even they were not that bad.
Firebird owners can be just as bad, by the way. I get snubbed all the time by acouple of LS1 Ram Air drivers and an LS1 Formula driver.
Whatever.

Where did this happen at? I think I know the car you are talking about. There are many A-holes out there, both on the street and at the shows... sad to see that since we are all apart of a big community of camaro fans. :(

Having had both a '96 WS6, a 2000 WS6 and a 2002 WS6, I would have to agree that the 96-97's were the best looking IMHO. While I like the looks of mine, I think the LT1 WS6's were more aggresive looking as well as having smoother/cleaner lines. :hail:

Losing to a Vette in an SS is no disgrace. Myself, I don't get it. I got beat by an Eagle Talon. There are faster cars out there. Even ricers. Race & you will find them. But show them respect, win or lose. Even if it's to some ugly old 71 Camaro with a BBC in it. ;)

As the owner of 3 prior 3rd Gens, I have the utmost respect for them. Matter of fact, I am looking for another one in the near future to toy with. Sadly, there are so few in decent shape or that aren't being driven by punk kids who have something to prove. If I see a nice car (or m/c), regardless, I try to give a thumbs up. Nice cars are nice cars, no matter what year/style/brand/etc.

Yeah, me too. I see at least 3 Birds every week to and from work, and a handful of Z's and SS's. NONE of them acknowledge a wave, and I waved countless times. I get more respect from a guy that drives a nice red IROC than 4th gens. I'm so used to ignoring them anymore on my commute that when a red 96-97 ram air was heading towards me last summer I almost had a stroke when the driver gave a huge wave out the open T-Tops.

I hear that.......a few weeks before I moved I was cruising up one of the canyons outside of L.A. and much to my astonishment, a dude on a sport bike waved at me so hard he almost fell off. :eek2: I was floored........and very happy. Believe it our not we have some guys in the club like this. If its not their generation they dont want to talk about anything else. Or if your car is not stock they dont want to talk to you, or if your car is not modded they dont want to talk to you. But heck with well over 300 Memberships in the club you cant weed out the "purest groups" you just got to go with the flow.

I disagree with that completely. Most "LS1 owners" would either like to or do own a F-Body from any of the prior Gens. Personally, I wold love to have two or three different camaros from each Generation that was made. I don't think that my camaro is the baddest-ass car on the road... I have a friend who has an '86 Z28 who can smoke me in a heads-up race any day of the week (granted, he has done o' lot of engine work to it, but it is still a 3rd Gen Z28). If you have run into a "LS1 snob" somewhere, then that is too bad, but all the "LS1 owners" I know don't think down on other F-Body onwers of different Gens.

My thoughts exactly! My favorites are the 1st gens, Maros or Birds. I had a 69 Camaro & wish I still had it. That was a NICE car, even tho it wasn't finished. It wouldn't beat my 00 TA in the 1/4 or thru the turns, but it was one of my all time favotie cars. That said, it would have to be a special 1st gen to get me to trade straight across at this point. Woodinville is snob country, it takes the prize for snobbery when it comes to *all* generations and models. You can't even talk to someone in a parking lot who has a first gen without them thinking you aren't worth their time let alone wave at another 4th gen without them sticking their nose so high they would require T-tops. The maroon in a nice 4th gen Mustang ragtop will turn up their tunes when at a light you say "nice car!" and the 4th gen bird will cut you off on a green left just to be a dick.
What is weird is once you are out of the area, those third gen drivers will smile and wave back most of the time - they don't seem to hold a grudge. 1st gens are still snobby but at least change lanes. Women driving Mustangs seem to think I'm a frickin lesbian or something because I'll wave or nod with a smile - you just picture their boyfriends nudging them during sex saying "are you still awake?". Women on cycles give back a *huge* smile and wave, none of it makes any sense!
I wonder what would happen if I put on a blonde wig and shirt just barely covering the headlights. My guess is I would get all sorts of waves and nods, even from the other female drivers. Guess its time to find a cheap wig and try it out just for fun...then flip them all off when they are nice
As for the "hit me so I can sue you sucker" idiot driver, those are people that need to be run over by a semi who's been awake for 33 hours and hopped up on crank with BC license plates.
Either that or die in a fire...

I will agree with 1st Gen snobs... I have run into a lot of those types that believe that the camaro started production in 1967 and ended in 1969. To them, everything else is not a camaro.
But, I think that a majority of the 4th Gen owners really wanted another generation of Camaro or Firebird but got a 4th Gen. because it was more avaiable and easier to finance. Not to say that they didn't want a 4th Gen, but their preference might have been another generation. When I was looking for my camaro, I wanted either a '68 SS or a '98-02 SS. I got my wish with my '99 SS, but I still would love to have that '68!! ANd, I would also ove to have an '87-90 IROC Z.
The "4th Gen snobs" that you have run into are more than likely jealous of the fact that they do not have the Gen Camaro or Fierbird that they really want and play up the fact how much their car is much more bad ass. But, the majority that I know never look down on any other Gen.
I've ran into more LS1 snobs then non-LS1 snobs in my time hanging out w/ LS1s.
