Default 408 owners I have a question.

Does your motor click, clack, tap etc.....

Mine does and I guess its because of the high lift cam and springs, forged bottom end etc..... I just hate driving down the road and everything sounds fine and then I drive by a wall or something and the clicks and clacks bounce off of the wall and sounds ugly. Or when I pull up in traffic and a car pulls up beside me it does it there to. So just to put my mind at ease do other built motors make all of the damn noise???

Does it click, clack, paddy whack?

If so give that dog a bone.

Seriously though THAT noisey probably isnt good. High lift is going to be noisey but not to bad.

Well I wouldnt say its extremely noisy but it does click and clack. Im just a worrier and it worries me. Only reason I built the 408 is because of engine trouble so Im worried about it now.

I hear what you are talking about sometimes but it dyno's fine and its really not that loud, you are probably just worrying a bit too much,

The only thing you could check is preload/valvetrain if you really wanted to. You getting any vavle float or anything?

I dont believe so. I just hate hearing all of the noises it makes and makes me worry to no end. Maybe I can get a vid of the motor and put it up and see what you guys think.

I second the exhaust leak. My car sounds badazz near a wall, in the garage, in the open, etc. The only time I hear tick is when my exhaust is loose. I tighten it and no more tick.
