Default How many shoot off the line?

At the track how do you guys engage your nitrous? I tried an 100 shot with a 3,200 pill and it blew up my rear end and my tranny!

I was running ET Streets Drag Radials and had some wheel hop, that is what tore up both my rearend and tranny.

I have a 2800 stall, progressive controller setup to start spraying 60% power at 2000 RPM's ramping to 100% power in 2 seconds shooting a 175 shot. Have had no problems except traction occasionally, but it's a little harder to get traction in a 2wd truck.

Recently 150 shot. I have done 200 shot right out of hole off the transbrake.

See my (and next's) picture in signature for what can happen

Don't dead-hook and don't spray through the shifts.

it'll be slower than when i first used 200 on my stock a4 formula with only a slp airlid at the time. 11.97 with a 11.99 next run. hit it at 2000 rpm first gear on regular 275/40-17 sumitomo tires. oh, and sprayed through the shifts as well.

Wheel hop is expensive. Try progressively getting to wot to maintain traction till you can handle the added torque/n2o power, or first gear lock out on n2o. Also upgrading suspention to eliminate wh. I get it also sometimes when getting to aggressive on launch.

I wouldn't recommend hitting a 100 or 150 shot at 3000 rpm. That is a hole lot of stress on those rods from the torque. I had my pills set at 3800. I had a friend with a Z06 used to hit it at 3000 and not long after put a rod out the the side of the block.

Ouch! Don't want that to happen!

I was looking at my last all motor run scanning with EFILive. I am almost to the 60' mark at 5,000 rpms and going 30 mph. If I get my tranny working good again, I thought about putting in a 5,000 or 5200 rpm pill. My rpms never drop below that again through the rest of the run.....Anyone try that?

If you really want the best ET performance you'll be launching on the gas. 40% of your elapsed time on the track will be spent from the 0 - 330 mark which is only 25% of the total track. You'll make the biggest gains in dropping your ET by focusing on the most power the soonest. I don't see the logic behind the comment not to use a 3000 pill.

Agreed, however, some of us are not at the point of putting all the power available to the ground, yet, and get a spectaculer 1.3x 60ft'er. I use 3500rpm for first stage and 4700rpm for second stage in 2nd gear because I can't handle it all traction wise and looking for longevity in running gear also. A friend is doing a 12.09 and 1.9x sixty with a small n2o hit, but needs to hit it sooner (traction is there) because he is going 120+mph and this shows how the 60 effects ET.
