So this eclipse wants to race...??? (update)
okay (on with the on-going saga) look at my last thread on this if you are unfamiliar with this race b/t me and a GS-T. I quizzed his girlfriend about his car and she tryed to tell me about it. He has a Greddy "precision" "60 trim" turbo capable of running up to 25 pounds but he does have stock internals (so he is obviously not running anywhere around 25) and I can't find any turbo that fit that description. Maybe someone familiar with can enlighten me. So do you think my basically stock M6 HPIII tuned SS will be able to squash him? You guys don't know how imperative it is that I win this race...if I lose than he will have the biggest ego and become more gay (if that is even possible). Around the beginning of July I should have LT's, ORY, maybe lowered an inch, with 85mm MAF, smooth bellows, and around august a mild cam.... what you boyz or gals think???????//

i have no freakin clue man, i dont know jack about those cars , but i do know once you get all those mods you will be pretty much set, but right now with your current mods, im not sure, and it also depends on how much boost he's running and all his other mods.

I'm guessing she meant 60-1 turbo, which is a good sized turbo. But thats stupid to put in without a built motor, he'll blow it real fast if he ups the boost at all. This really reminds me of that F&F race, when he blows his eclipse.

The 90-91 4g63 motors will handle about 500 horsepower (give or take)before blowing to bits. They have better rods from the factory. The 60-1 turbo is capable of making this same aforementioned horsepower. Also figure in the DSM is light, especially if it's a 1st gen. I'm not saying you cannot win because of nearly infinite variables that have not been talked about but just don't go in overconfident. The only example that I can give you to compare is a small "race" I had with a 350 RWHP Formula while driving my ~300 FWHP 90 GST. My car weighs 2700 pounds BTW. We only went from a 20ish roll up to about 70 fear of cops. I was already in 2nd gear to try to combat wheelspin so everything was pretty much good for me. When we hit it I started spinning just a tad but still was even. I hooked and put maybe 2 car lengths on him really quickly and then we shut down. Would I have continued pulling on him had we taken the speed to 120? Yes, at least for a little while. I imagine that his superior horsepower would have taken over once the speeds got up over 100 though. Had we started from a higher roll, I would not have been able to pull like I did if at all. Just use my example to your advantage if you can. Good luck.

He wont even have 300 hp unless he's pushin 20 or more psi on stock internals. I hate explaining this every time. My brother has a GSX with 20psi and MAYBE 300hp. Those cars are heavy too, over 3000 unless weight reduction was done. Just don't mess up when you race and it will be easy, just do it already.
By the way, has anybody seen the new Eclipe's yet? They are ugly as hell IMO

I'd say go ahead and race him, on stock internals he isnt going to be wanting to push his boost up too terribly high. Since he is FWD you have your options on how to race him. He isnt as good as an awd off the line but is better from a roll, and boosting with an upgraded turbo I'd probably opt for the dig race. I am very confident you can take him out of the whole (assuming he dosnt have slicks and full suspension) and could quite probably hold him off long enough to call it a win. Just race him already, if he beats you say nice car and race him again after you've modded up a little more.

Like every one is saying with the mods the eclipse is claming he is somewhere in the 300-350whp. the persison turbo is a ball-bearing turbo so more power on less boost and faster spool up. am in favor of the SS beaing that the eclipse won't get traction unless he is a hell of a driver and has DR. If this is going to be a 1/4 mile race he will prob start to catch up but hopefully you can hold him off.

if he's running 16 psi he'll still be nearing 300 fwhp. If he has any tire on that car at all he will be running pretty hard. Even if it is a 2g they can still handle 400 hp for a period of time. I would also bet that if he has a 60 trim turbo he has most of the supporting mods.
Get some juice and shut him down!

stock internals on these cars are good for 500whp...
dont say he has stock internals and cant be that fast or he'll blow his little 4 cylinder...
I'd skip on the 85mm MAF and smooth bellows put the money somewhere else... those mods arent gona benefit you much.
