I am in the process of doing a head and cam swap and as i was pulling off my stock (LS1 99) intake manifold i broke something. Im not shure what it is but it was in the very back of it. Here is a pic. [IMG]Copy of DSC00642[/IMG]
If anybody knows what this is can you please tell me and tell me what it does as well as how to get it out and what to do to fix it (im assuming buy a new one) Thanks you so much!

I see the pic didnt come out so i will try to discribe it. It is in the back attached to the block it had an o-ring in it (orange) and it has a metal clip thing in it. if i push on the inside it feels plastic and it makes a popping noise. If you still dont know what it is could you post me a private message with an email so i could send the pic? Thanks again.

Obviously the pic is not working, however, I'm sure you broke the oil pressure sending unit. It's a very common occurance.

Is it this thing in the very back with the green connector on top?

I'm pretty sure what you are describing is what I am talking about. You will need to order a new one (if in fact this is what you broke), otherwise you won't be seeing any oil pressure on your dash. Plus oil will more than likely spew out from this hole and you don't want that happening.

I did the same thing when swapping my LS1 Intake for the LS6 intake I have now. I went to Auto Zone or Advanced Discount Auto (don't remember which one). They had them in stock ... $22.00.

Sounds good how do i get the ols one out and put the new one in? I havent reall spent much time to look i was so upset i just decided to put it aside and continue with the disassembly but now its about time to figure out how to fix this so any advice on how to change the old one out and the new one in would be great!!

you have to get some big plumbing socket to get it in and out. it's like a 1.25" or 1.375" socket and you need something really deep to take in all three inches of that oil pressure sensor. Go to the plumbing section of Home Depot and get a set. They look like this:

yes, it just unscrews. you need an oil pressure sending unit socket. very easy.
