to make things quick I have a 1999 silverado nbs ext cab that was bought in California. I live in Austin, TX and have no need for the emmissions crap. Even with a k&N fipk and 40 series single in dual out. My truck isn't nearly as loud as my friend's truck with just a 40 series. If anyone knows if you can remove the CA equipment and if a tune would also need to be involved I would appreciate the help. thanks

You will need a tune to get rid of some of the SES lights once the emissions stuff is removed. You should be fine in TX.
