Default Which valvesprings should I use?

Hey all. I just purchased a Thunder Racing Custom "Reverse Split" Camshaft - 230/224 .575/.563 111 LSA 2200-6800 RPM Power Band - along with some trickflow hardened pushrods. I'm on a pretty tight budget and I still need to get some valvesprings and possibly titanium retainers. I've heard the Comp 918's are the way to go, but I have found some other springs cheaper, but not sure if they will work, or if these cheaper ones won't last as long. While browsing around SDPC I found these springs from Lunati. Would these work with stock retainers or would they require the titanium retainers?
http://www.sdpc2000.com/catalog/1797...ve-Springs.htm

Also do I need a cam gasket or something like that also? I could really use some help with this.

Thanks!

Al

I'd go with 918's (no expeirence with the lunati springs) and titinium retainers, but the tit retainers are not necessary just a good idea. I'm not sure about 99's, but I know on the later years you can reuse the stock gaskets if you don't damage them while removing stuff. I'd just buy a gasket kit. Don't forget a new balancer bolt.

Thanks for the info. How high can I rev the engine if I keep stock retainers? How high with the titanium? What's a balancer bolt? Can I get one of these at a local car part store or do I need to order one? (sorry I don't mean to sound stupid.)

Ok I have 2 possible deals going right now....

From dealer 1
We do offer a valve spring kit from Manleythat will wotk very well. They are good to .600 lift but are not a beehive spring. This kit will include: valve springs, tit retainers, and spring seats. This would cost a bit over $200

Or a deal from dealer 2 for a Comp Cams 918 springs with Titanium Retainers for almost $100 more (still a good deal though).

Are these Manley ones ok and why would I need spring seats?

Just get the 918's with Ti retainers, they are a VERY good spring.

Be sure to read www.ls1howto.com
They have a nice F-body cam swap writup. I have a link in my sig to a post I made after swapping my cam/springs that fills in some of what ls1howto leaves out, and some advice.

balancer bolt is the bolt for the crank pulley. I got the ARP bolt and it was worth the money.

Are you referring to this?

Longer crankshaft pulley bolt, M16 x 2.0 pitch x 120mm long

(quoted from ls1howto.com)

Where can I get this?

And yes I did get a nice offer for the 918's and retainers. Probably going to go with that.
