The rod depends on the piston compression height (actually the other way around)... But you can use stock rods in an All-Bore motor if you have the bigger bore pistons built at the stock compression height.

I am building one now as a matter of fact . The sleeve size as said before needs to be 4.100 and stock stroke. I am going to run 6.125 rods in mine and custom pistons, 238/240/112 cam, and a set of my 853s. BTW, its actually a 382 but who cares

I already had a good stock block and crank so after sleeving the block, ARP main studs, line hone, H-beams, pistons, bearings, rings and assembly of the short block was $3100 or so. I expect it to put down 450-475rwhp or so through the M6.

yup, if I was doing a new motor id splurge on the internal parts, except for the crank, the stock one is good enough. But what rods would be light while at the same time offering good durability.

I do the dry sleeve on the blocks, the way their done it looks like the block came that way from the factory . I will say that a properly done wet sleeve is a stronger setup but for a street car the dry lseeve is all Ill need. My heads flow 272/222 @ .600, I was workin on a new intake port design but it doesnt do as well up top as I hoped but moved a little more air down low so its on the back burner for now. I also believe that 475 at the wheels from a 382 all bore is respectable, since I like to lowball my stuff

You cant go wrong with Crower rods and CP Pistons. May not have heard much about them but they are top quality parts for full out racing engines. You wont want to run the stock crank. You can still keep similar specs but get yourself a strong crank while you in the build, you wont regret it.

Has anyone thought about using the new darton 4.200 wet sleeve steve will be getting in the next month or so and building an all bore motor with the stock crank? What would the total CI be with a 4.200 bore motor? What would I need to do to my heads 853 castings also, but flow 299 @ .600 306@ .650 to match up to the larger bore? Would it be a necessity to install new valve seats and larger valves right now the heads are using the stock valve seats, but larger 2.02 valves and 1.6 exhaust would they be enough?
