Default spraying on a n/a tune with racegas.

i've been pondering this lately. say you have a conservative n/a tune, maybe 12.5-13.0 a/f ratio and stock timing maps. if you ran some 100 unleaded, or VP C12 leaded 108 octane, or VP C16 leaded 116 octane... would you be allright knock wise/ would the motor survive for long spraying a 150 wet shot?

i ask this because i plan on 1st gear lockout, then spray 100-150 wet. i do not want my tune to mess up my launch and my performance in 1st gear since most people tune very rich for nitrous, 11.5/1 air fuel or so and that seems like it could cause a little bogging... first gear is also a big deal to me because im going to be running 2.73's for a little while (why? because i want to...).

all experienced comments are welcome. hptuners is what i tune with, so i can do whatever. i also know about lead and 02 sensors/ cats etc..-

tia.

Yes...you can do that. As a matter of fact increasing octane will usually get you further than just retarding timing alone on pump.

I would say with your plan....do the first gear loclout thing and spray your 150 shot. You will only need some 100 octane unleaded and you should be fine.

no need for C16 fuel with your power needs. 100 unleaded is just fine.

At a 150 shot i ran 104 unleaded you could even run a 200 but that would be max. That is what i ran im now looking to go open loop and run some 112 leaded for a 300 shot.I've been thinking about the same deal with octane vs afr?I know my car is a 11.1 compresson motor and i know if i spray a 350 shot ill need octane but how much do you need to keep it safe?To much you will run like **** or have tuning issues to little and you have other problems.I think a guy running a 13.5.1 compresson with a 350 shot is going to need more octane than a low compresson motor with the same shot.Sorry if i got off track im just thinking out loud.

cool- im VERY familiar with boosted motors but spray and any compression over 8.5 : 1 is somewhat new to me.
