Default Is this a good Stall Convertor

Going to buy a Vigilante 2800 Stall Convertor for my 00 T/A. Ive called Precision Industries and they recommended this size with the currrent mods that i have. Currently I have Kook L/T's, ASP Pulley, Ported T/B with my stock gears and iam going to install a cam later but not sure what size. Any Suggestions would help out Thanks..

Well i be honest with you, i think it is small. In the future you want a cam, then why not go big on the converter so you can go big on the cam?? I have a Vig 4000 converter, Lid,Maf,LT's,ORY,Catback, 3:73's. I plan on going with TSP Magic Stick, F-13 or a TR Cam. But if you have a 2800 converter, then you cant run as big of a cam...What all do you plan on doing in the future??

Basically since my car is a daily driver the most i might go with is the current mods i have now with the 2800 stall and cam.

The 2800 has a good rep for a daily driver verter ... most guys that have it seem to really like it. With your mods and a cam in your future, you might consider going up to the Vig 3200, but otherwise the 2800 is a good choice. BTW it is well known that Vig stalls are typically underrated by about 400 rpm.

GO BIGGER. Rule of thumb is to go at least one size larger than what you think you want, and the rule is almost always right. ESPECIALLY if you are looking to get a cam later. The tighter the converter the fewer cams you can choose from to match it. I knew all this when I got mine and went 3500 on my daily driver....recently had it restalled to 4000. Mostly becaue I went with a bigger cam than I was planning.

Default mixed opinions eh...

well i would definately stick w/ the 2800... it's a great converter and if it's your daily driver you probably wont go huge on the cam anyways. IMO i think something in the mid to high 220's on a 112-114lsa would make a good daily driven cam w/ plenty of power and still work well w/ the converter.

A 3500 stall really isn't bad on the street. It can be driven at 2,000 rpm, and at 2,500 rpm on larger/faster roads and still keep ahead of traffic.

Try to ride in/drive a car with a converte first. And don't judge it too fast after you buy it, chances are if it doesn't feel too loose at first you didn't go big enough cause once you get used to it in a few days you'll want more.

I have my 3800 and it's a daily driver somewhat. 1500-2000 rpms gets the car rolling.

Like Roarin_8 says, with my Yank SS3800, from a stop, to keep up with traffic, it will generally stall to between 2000-2500RPMs. It' s not too bad, but, if you have a mild exhaust note at idle, you COULD have a roaring exhaust note when cruising with a stall. It seems this converter will flash all the way to a little more than 4000RPMs in traffic, with an agressive right foot. For me, I don' t think I would go higher, at this time anyways, for a daily driver. If this is your first stall, that will probably be good enough until you are used to it. Find someone with a stall and see what if feels like

Default Ss3600

Im thrilled with my SS3600
It has done 1.647s and 11.891 at 114mph on ET street radials in 235/60 x 15. Race weight 3625lb, with 3.73s

It launched in 1.97 in second gear! and did 12.5

Drives nice on the street, here is a video of how tight it is
