Default Annoying SES light. any advice

I recently purchased a 02 WS6 for my g/f. It has long tubes, extensions for the o2's, high flow cats(not sure if gutted), o2 sims, and other bolt ons. About two weeks later the SES light came on. I had it scanned at the local dealer and was told it was b/c of the mainstream drivers o2 was bad. I changed the sensor and after about 2 days the light went out. Few days later it came back on and has been starring at me for weeks now. Its an A4 and tank of gas is good for only 160 miles. I get 220 out of my 422rwhp Ta so I know somethings off. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

get it scanned and tell them you want the code number, just go back and see if they will rescan, could be the extentions, might wanna try longer o2s

What are all the mods?

If its running Rich you can spoil the O2s and it would be hard on gas. But there is no enough info to know.

w/that poor of gas mileage sounds like the code is a front O2 putting you into open loop all the time

Does this car have headers?

I'd check for a burned through wire for the O2 sensor that the code's being set for...

Also check the "Engine Sensor" fuse under the hood just to be sure it's ok as well (if it blows it'll put you in Speed Density open loop)

Since changing the O2s made the SES light go out I
suspect it's a heat problem, maybe overfueled too and
this could have sped up the second set croaking. It's
a not-uncommon headers-car problem. You could go
and replace with the higher wattage types next time,
try wrapping the lower part of the primary tubes and
collector, stuff like that. Being as you now have two
cars of the same model year I really think you ought
to pick up a copy of HPTuners.
