Default unexplainable knock retard

ok. I had my car dynotuned last month. 1st we checked the PCMforless tune that I had in it. There was 6 degrees of knock retard present, and you could hear the car ping up top. So this guy tunes the new computer, keeps getting knock retard. Finally tunes it one run, no knock retard. changes nothing, redyno, 4 degrees of kr. Changes some stuff up, gets 0 kr, and at this point my wallet was thinning at a rapid pace, so we call it a day. Yesterday, I dynoed on a Dynojet and the guy has it hooked up, monitoring it, and there is 4 degrees of kr present. No one can give me an explanation of why, and how to get rid of it. By the way, I can not hear it pinging anymore. Anyone have any suggestions? And to boot, the car is an a4, with mods in sig, and it put down a corrected 374 rwhp unlocked. could the kr be lowering that number, and should a capable tuner be able to get rid of the kr?

my guess would be to check your fueling out, you may not be getting consistent fueling, or spark.

Fuel pressure was 57psi to 60psi the entire run.

i am having a similar problem with my silverado SS. upwards of 3500 rpms i am getting KR and pinging through the shift then it subsides. comes back again at the top of the next gear.

the dealer replaced the cats last week...that seemed to help for a day. than back to the same problem. i can't seem to be able to tune it out...any ideas???

So you heard actual pinging before, but not now? If you didn't hear any sound at all period, my suggestion would be going the isolation route to ensure it's false KR, especially with a 99. You can still go that route (search for my posts and also Another_User for ways to train the knock sensors), but I'd be sure fueling and air were on target first, especially with new injectors.
