Default Tuned port

hey all...got a few questions for you..im wanting to put another motor in my 88 chevy 4x4..i currently have a mildly built 355 in it with a holley carb and pretty big cam in it..too big acutally.. anyway..im going to be driving this thing more and more and im wanting to toally redo it before i get too crazy so im thinking i want to go with a fuel injected motor..i had the orginal tb setup on it but it was super old and failing so i ditched it and went carb. i have always thought the tuned port would be a fairly easy swap..all my guages and stuff still work right now with my carb setup and i have an aftermarket lockup control on my tranny..soo whats your thoughts on the tuned port setup? the engine thats going in it will be very mildly built..probably just you basic "mail order rotating assembly" ..you know the ones for like 599.. and a very basic rv cam..nothing fancy. just want realiable power..i was leaning towards a holley tbi setup or the accel setup..whatever it is it will have to be stand alone due to the fact that i cut all my tbi wires out. i know that S+P sells a kit that converts your tbi over but i dont know. i know if i went with the aftermarket tbi setup i could reuse my current serpentine drive as well...any suggestions..remmeber its going to be a daily driver not a race truck.hahah hell i even thought of just ordering one of those 88-93 gm parts replacement longblocks from summit for like 1700 and bolting on a holley tbi setup and dropping it in..i already have a fairly new hei distributor..

three words: holley stealth ram. the stock type tpi systems are nice in the low range but give up in the midrange and top end. ive seen nothing but good things from the stealth ram setup. very versatile and very nice.

The tuned port will make good torque numbers. Which would be a plus in your truck. It would also help to balance out that big cam. I believe the tune port 350's actually had more torque than the lt1's. Someone correct me if im wrong but i believe the numbers were 255hp/345tq where the lt1 was 275hp/325tq.

I think youde be very happy with the tpi in the truck plenty of low end torque.Im running a modified tpi setup in my 73 vette with a zz4 roller cam sportsman 2 heads 24 lb injectors,nitrous,700r4 ,3.70 gears, sidepipes and i love it ,yeah it might not pull past 5000 but its great on the street.

Best advise is be careful on the Cam choice I like the LPE 211/219. Brutal TQ and the computer seems to like them with a little tuning
