Default Spotted a green Firebird on the freeway with a air scoop on top of his roof ???

Hey all:

On the way to work today I spotted a green Firebird/Trans-am going in th other direction on the 10 freeway near Cherry Valley.

What caught my attention was a air scoop it had on top of the roof. It reminded me of the same set-up the aftermarket Toyota MR2 use's for there turbo systems.

I have never seen anything like that before. I wish he would have been on my side so I could have played with him a little and see what he had under the hood. Twin Turbo's???

Just wanted to share it with you all because I have never seen anything like that and if it was there for looks But if it was there to force more air for his Twin Turbo set-up

I was being sarcastic guys...I cant see it working at all. Even with a STS turbo set-up I still cant see any way it would be a benifit. I just have no clue why the heck they would do that to the car. I have only seen that type setup for the MR2'S.

I'd imagine the fiero and mr2 arne't the only mid-engine cars the roof scoop is used for. I can't see the practicality of it if the engine is in the fron, though.

A friend of mine told that some endurance race cars have scoops on the roof to help move air into the cabin to help keep the driver comfortable since there isn't any A/C. But on any car that isnt flying around a track at 120 mph, scoops like that look retarded.

rally teams have functional scoops also, but they are functional. besides that, only rear engine cars should be allowed to have roof scoops. the scoop was probably one of those ricer tape on ones

The ONLY car that is allowed to have a hood scoop in my book is the McLaren F1
