Default They gotta be shittin me!!!!!!

I just called 2 shops to do my 4:10 install and the lowest quote I got so far was about $400.00. Are they crazy?? These are 2 reputable shops too.

I got a quote between 900-1200...It's absurd

I'd say 400-500 is typical....that's why you don't put gears in these things. You go and get a nice rear and put it in. Gears will only weaken the already crappy 10-bolt.

Hawaii is also the land of rip off.

That's why I left after 33 years.

Done properly, gear installation is tedious and time-consuming. Four hundred is very reasonable for a good job.

It takes a good amount of time to change gears and set up the ring and pinion spacing!

I have to agree. After 7 years of paying Hawaii pricing, I had to leave. I paid $250 two days ago for a reputable 4:11 9" install and a drain plug installed. But I also dropped off just the rear end since it was already out. I love not being in Hawaii anymore!
