Default when taking out tranny, fluid just poured out of the output shaft

how do i prevent this when i go to putting it back it.

yesterday i finaly finshied taking the tranny out of my car, had to fiw the output shaft seal, replace the slave and a bolt on the flywheel.
well since i have no friends i had to do it all myself, and one end got lower then the other, and tranny fluid just pured out something fierce out of it!
well got the seal fixed, but i guess it needs the driveshaft in there so it wont leak as fluid still purs out of there.

Is there a way i can plug it so when i put it back in it wont pour out, royal purple aint cheap!

The easiest way is to install a slip yoke.

Don't fill it til you put it in. Then fill it through the shifter, it's alot easier. And no mess!

Sounds like you already filled it. If you don't want to drain it, the yoke suggested already is the ticket. If you don't have access to another yoke, drain the fluid into a clean container and then refill the transmission through the shifter after the transmission is buttoned up. Good luck.

you could use the slip yoke, or get a plastic plug that will fit in there. most tranny shops have them instead of using a yoke.......

same way, pull the plug and fill through the shifter till it leaks out of the hole, then plug it.
