Keep in mind that my car is primarily just a street car on street tires (315 BFG g-force) used for fair weather fun, roadtrips, car shows, etc. I don't plan on any 2500 rpm drag launches on stickies but I do like to have some fun with it if you know what I mean. It's in no way a trailer queen. <img src="graemlins/burnout.gif" border="0" alt="[Burnout]" />

That said, I plan on going with:

Stage 2 heads
TR224/.561/114 cam
LS6 intake

I have SLP LT headers as well as a compliment of suspension goodies like BMR LCA, panhard, torque arm, SLP subframe connectors, etc. I estimate my rwhp will be somewhere in the 400-420 range (right?). I'm running 3.73 gears with an M6.

My question is:

How long will I be able to run with the stock clutch if I don't abuse it on a drag strip every weekend. So far the clutch is holding up very well. I'll likely upgrade next season but I need to know how much if any I need to pamper it (or my diff) with the hp I'll be running. What should I avoid doing to ensure an entire summer on the stock 2000 clutch and a 10-bolt rear?

Thanks Booker. Does this mean we can get along now?

I'd still like to hear some experiences of people who've had good results with the same situation. If something did get trashed - why? How'd you do it and how could you have avoided it?

I know I'll eventually upgrade. I've heard Star clutches were good and Izzo is nearby to do the work. Maybe the LS6 clutch will do if I'm not a frequent drag racer.

I had a '98 M6 before I bouth the car I have now. I destroyed the stock clutch in less than 10,000 miles from slipping it too much at the track. The stock clutch doesn't seem to stand up to any kind of slippage/heat at all.

For what it sounds like you're wanting to do, I'd get some advice from some of the other M6 guys, and swap out the stock clutch. It absolutely will not hold up.
