Default T-top dot-tint removal

My t-tops are tinted and have those little dots all over them and I am wondering if there is a way to remove them. If anyone has done this or knows how to do it please let me know.

do you mean it has the dots on the whole thing, or just the edges? Sorry, I have no idea how to answer your question, I've just never seen t-tops with dots on the whole thing before!

Are you talking about the dot-matrix on the top of the rear hatch glass? Because that's the only dots I can think of.

The older (read LT1) cars have the dot-matrix over the entire t-top, though I thought that ended somewhere around '96 or '97, but I've been wrong quite a bit recently. As for removing it, I'm not sure if you really can, besides sanding it off and hoping you don't hurt the glass too much .

If it looks like it was meant to be there, I'd leave it. If you mean some sort of contaminant or dirt, it would be worth getting off. We need some clarification to help out on this one. Any pics?

I'll try to get some pics it's for a 94 Z28 so I know some may be unfamiliar. There are dots on the whole top so it just looks kinda funny. I didn't know if anyone would know this.

Black vinyl works nice to cover them up. As well as the hatch glass. Just cut tint off that part, and layer vinyl on it. Fixing to do mine and I'll post pics when done..

If your trying to retint your tops, and thoes dots are keeping the tint from sticking to the glass, use a one of thoes white glue sticks and wipe it over the dots and that glue will help the tint stick and it wont show up white between the dots.

The Dot Matrix tops were used in the early stages of the 4th Gen T-Top'd cars my buddy has them on his 94 25th Anniv. TransAm. As for removing them no clue really, best bet would be to talk to someone in the window tinting industry to see if they know, since most windows that are tinted on the rear, when they remove the old tint, it'll pull the rear drefroster off as well, so they may know something most dont...I have a set of plain tops out of a 02 TransAm in MINT condition that I'm using for my Targa Top if you would trade and throw cash I might be interested...

93-95 were the years for dot matrix i think. if you do remove them you definately want to get them tinted in some other way REALLY soon... otherwise you'll cook in the sun. especially in stl

you could try paint remover in an aerosol can.... make sure to cover any part you dont wanna get that **** on.... it will most likely do what you want... use a razor to peel the stuff off after about 15 mins...

93 and 94 cars got the dot matrix t tops. My 94 V6 had them, I actually liked it at times..its different.

It takes lots and lots of sanding to get them out. Honestly your better off getting different ttops, trying some vinyl, or having a professional "night shade" them to make them darker. I say professional because you cant just sand it off like on a tail light or something smooth.

I love having my dot matrix ones too. If the dots weren't there I would have to tint them for sure, but I like being able to have some light come through and be able to see out without being blinded when I look up.
