Default Putting 97TA 3.42 gears into a 97Formula with 2.73???

My 97 Formula has 2.73 gears stock. I can get a set of 3.42 gears for cheap from a 97 Trans Am. Is there anything I need to get to have the 3.42 gears install into my car? Or will they just pop in place?

You need to replace your series 2 carrier with a series 3 carrier for those gears to work. The only other way to get the gear ratio to work would be to order a thicker gear that is made for a series 2 carrier.

There is also a spacer you can get to make it fit in your car. It cost me about $90 including overnight shipping. Just finished doing this one myself. If you like, PM me and I'll get you the info.
