Skip Shift installed.. Still not pleased..
I put the SLP skip shift eliminator in when i installed my Pro 5.0 shifter the other day, and I still see the "skip shift" light come on, and the solenoid still kicks out to stop my shifting. I dont think its as severe as before i installed the SSE (skip shift eliminotor), but still will not let me shift from 1st to 2nd under 2,500. In town, i cannot get a real smooth ride rapping it up to 2,500 before i can shift.. Is it in wrong, or will i just have to live with it?? thanks guys. (1996 Camaro SS)

Something is wrong. A skip shift eliminator should do just that. You will still see the skip shift light but it should let you shift to 2nd at low RPMs.

I think there is only one way to put it in. I also have a SLP Skip Shift Eliminator in my 99' WS6. I have had no problems with mine, it works great. I can shift at any RPM now. The skip shift light will still come on(at least mine does) but the harness is supposed to stop the signal tellin the solenoid to stop the shift. Check to make sure its plugged in tight & tucked in outta the way(like with a zip tie). If it still doesnt work, u may have just got a bad part & i would call SLP & explain the problem.

I am really disapointed so far with the 2 SLP products i have purchased for my car..
I got the modular Loudmouth and the Skip **** eliminator.. So far the exhaust will not stay tight (via Crap *** brackets supplied in the LT1 install kit), and i cannot shift even with the SSE. I am going to the exhaust shop at 1 to get new brackets fabbed.. Waste of the $35 dollar LT1 install kit, which only came with 2 rear brackets, and they SUCK! They allow enough play to allow the pipe to get within a **** hair of the driveshaft, and rest on the rear panhard. As you can tell, i'm not a fan of SLP at the moment.

When i first bought my 99' WS6 i was all about gettin all SLP parts, then i started reading & they r not quite all they r cracked up to be. Alot of people have problems with their products(on street driven cars) & their pricing is way higher than our sponsers on here. What i have from SLP now will probably be all i buy from them, maybe some floor mats & rear deck mat, but thats bout it.

As was said the shift light will still come on, but it shouldn't be locking out 2nd anymore.
Funny I'm seeing this the day after I did the resistor mod. I had a guy try to sell me a SS Eliminator last week, told him I'd hold off for the time being. Did the resistor mod for .99cts and it works like a charm and no SES light.
Anyhoo, if you want to waste some more time or feel like you're getting your moneys worth, call SLP up and complain, see if they'll replace it. Or you can go to Radio Shack and buy a 2.2k ohm 1/2W pack of resistor's for $1 and have it working in a few minutes.

isnt just plain wire equal to 1 ohm resistance? Could i just use a wire bend it in the U shape to make the connection?
Is there a write up about this Resistor stuff?
