You mean the master cylinder? No, you don't have to swap the master cylinder for a new one to do the drill mod, but you pretty much have to take it off the car. Otherwise, you would have to disconnect the line from the master cylinder side and then try to re-install it on the master once you're done. I can't imagine how much "fun" that would be. Taking out the master cylinder is hard enough...
