Default Good Cam to meet my goals in LS1-Mustang swap?

I'm in the process of doing a LS1 swap in my Cobra. I would really like to do a cam swap while the motor is out of the car.

I'm a newbie when it comes to all things LS1, so I'm turning to you guys for advice.

Unlike every other LS1 owner I know, I'm not looking to get the biggest HP numbers out of my car (though that may change once I get the car running! LOL).

I really want it to sound nice and lopey while idling. Nothing would sound cooler than a "4V" Cobra chopping and loping around. Confuse the hell out of the Fun ford Weekend guys!

So all I'm looking for basically is a nice lope at idle, good drivability, and longevity. This will be a daily driver, and I don't want to be changing valve springs out every so often.

I know everyone hates the GM Hotcam, but I've had some people suggest it. Plus it can be had for a good price.

So, I'm open for suggestions. TIA...

What's an ASA cam?

I have a lead on a GTP Racing Cam for pretty cheap...

Specs are supposed to be: 226/226 .591/.591 110lsa

Would this be good for anything I'm trying to do?

That GTP cam would be a good one. Just make sure you install it at 110 or 112 intake centerline. If the cam is ground with any advance in it, it will peak too early, costing you power up high.

You will be fine with that cam, you stay away from the asa cam.

231/237 is very drivable. The only thing I notice it the bucking around 1400 rpms, but I learned to just gear down to avoid that RPM.

I had a 224 cam for my first one and loved it. Awsome cam for the power you get.
