it had the scoops so it was probably 05. I dont know, i test drove one and it didnt impress me except for the beautiful interior. But anyway, i wanted to see what his car could do but i couldnt because of my damn trans. I dont care if he would've won or not really, we just wanted to see eachothers cars work, but we got cut short.

GM claims the 05 GTO runs 13.0@108. My best friend just bought 1. We will take it to the track after he gets 2000miles on it. I'll post how he does later.

I'm not saying GTO's are slow, just that in my experience i couldnt find that extra near 100hp during the drive. My trans usually works fine and if i happened to be going a little slower or faster that it would have worked fine. What pisses me off is that it f'ed up at the worst time, i was real excited because i wanted to actually compare performance of the new GTO to my car rather than my few test drives.

i just floored it in D...or OD, one of those, i cant remember. But the weird thing is, from a stop it will work fine, just every once in a while and usually around the same speed it does that. Oh well, i cant afford a new trans and i cant work on it myself because i still havent figured out how the damn thing really works. Its like its latin or something, i just dont get it. I'll just have to race the guy from a stop next time i see him.

hehe, this reminds me of the movie "Friday", where Smokey's like "You got to be a stupid ************ to get fired on your day off!".....except in this case it's "you got to be a stupid ************ to miss a shift on an automatic tranny!"

j/k man, that sucks.....hope you get the problem figured out and you get a chance to run him again.

Is downshifting really bad for the A4s? I always wondered this... I thought it added maybe a little more wear and tear due to more use, but it downshifts itself when you stop, so i was unsure...

i'm assuming you have more done than just a cowl hood, or you're going to be seeing tail lights, especially from a roll. I don't think an A4 can compete with the gearing of the M6 goat. Hope your tranny isn't dying.

let it downshift then floor it, that saves the bands. get a shift kit and a tranny cooler and a good stall and change the fluid often that is the key for life on these a4's.

The 4L60E can take lots of abuse. Trust me on that one. I beat the ever loving **** out of mine. Sounds like you have some major tranny issues. Better pull it and beef it up.

You'll get him next time.
