Default AFR guys what rockers are you running?

i have HS rockers but am thinking of going back to stock. do i just bolt the stockers up or does the geometry have to be changed. i tried the swipe test with the stock rockers , 7.350 pushrods , patriot dual springs and all i get is a mess on the valve tips. i tried the pushrod calc and that telling me 7.4 pushrods which dont make sense with my application. my heads milled .024 with a .045 gasket. the calc says .031 closer to the cam. im thinkin maybe the HS rockers are part of my issue maybe. there super close to the inside of the heads. i dont know if there hitting in there or not thats why i want to put the stock rockers back on

Stock Rockers. 7.4 rods and no shims. The swipe test = a mess for me to. But that may have come as a result of me racing to get it together and using my wifes make-up pencil.....looked centered enough to me.
(.045 Cometics / .030 Mill.) about 2,800 on the clock thus far.

Stock rockers, no shims. Shorter 7.35" pushrods to accomodate the .030" milling and to get a little shallower plunger depth on the lifter. Pulls to 6800 rpm rev limiter with ease, even with my baby 215 cam.

I have a freind that is running AFR 205's milled .024" on a Cometic .040" gasket. Stock rockers, no shims, and TSP 7.4" pushrods. About 6k on them now with no issues.

I was running AFR 205's milled .030" on a Cometic .040" gasket and HS rockers w/no shims. The wipe was fine, but I had to go to 7.35" pushrods. My preload with the 7.4" was about .120". With the 7.35" pr's it was about .067". I had to clearance my heads behind the rockers too. I put checker springs on and used a pushrod to check my clearances and all was well.

I recently just installed a set of Jesel SS's, no shims here either. The problem I have right now is my preload with the Jesel's is around .110" with the 7.35" pr's. So I had to order a set of 7.30" pr's. I am also running a set of Comp 850 lifters. I have a suspicion the 850's are slightly taller than the stock lifters, but I haven't measured this by installing a set of stockers. I have read somewhere that they are a little taller, but I can't verify that.

I just pulled my heads off , which were the same as yours as you know, and it looked as if mine were riding way on the low side of the valve tip. If I were going back with the same ones, I'd have probably got some 7.325's. The best marker I've found to do the test with is a sharpie. Mine also looked centered when it was on the engine stand, but I guess after the lifters primed, it moved them further down the tip.

Morel lifters and Crane race gold quick lift 1.8's - quiet as a mouse, professionally setup by my engine builder. So I'm not sure what length pushrod - the Crane kit comes with their own. Pulls to 6800 easily.

Might have to check into something like this. I have Morels as well, stock rockers but need to finish assembly. I was looking at HS modded Stockers, lighter, stronger and cheaper. But, others are being mentioned that sound interesting.

I run stockers on all the motor's we do.Setup is critical to make them quiet and can even give more low end power. The stalling can very well mean there is too much preload.Your car should not be stalling with your setup and the tuning I did.

Someday you'll drop it off to me so I can go over everything

You guys are also forgetting the base circle on the camsare .030" smaller too. From zero preload you need to have about 1/4 to 1/2 turn til tight 22ft lbs. I have done a complete long write up on this a few times. It is not dificult just time consuming.
