Impression of Pro-shifted T-56 and Spec 5
I just got these installed last friday night and made a few passes saturday and sunday. I must say the T56 F'N ROCKS for drag racing. impossible to miss a gear and its super smoother and exremely fast shifting driving on the streets is a little bit of a drag since it's VERY noisy when shifting. sounds like the damn thing is going to implode I kept 5th and 6th though, so they are still syncronized and I just shift to 5th as quickly as possible when cruising.
as for the SPEC 5, my only complaint is the screeching when engaging from a stop and trying to slip it a little. I knew it would probably do this since it's obviously metal on metal, but it's still annoying. pedal pressure is pretty soft and its very driveable on the street. just takes a little practice from a stop, there is a fine point between making it squeal and it jerking the car. nicest thing is it needed no break-in. straight to the track with 6k dumps
this is a liberty gear conversion installed by a local shop.

Sounds good John-I'm looking at pro-shifting my t56 when it goes. How much did the parts cost you from Liberty? I have a friend who can rebuild the trans. You have an adj. master cyl I assume, did you shim the slave to bring the release point up; or just leave it alone.

I put the shim in that came with the SPEC clutch. and yes, I have a Mcleod adjustable master.
I think I paid about $250 to have my stock gears and sliders converter over. another $250 for the rebuild. not bad at all.
777 - it basically makes gears 1-4 no longer syncronized. you can easily power shift, but for street driving it isn't really friendly. downshifting is hard to do unless you 'rev match' and even upshifting is loud as hell unless you are on it.
