Would I gain anything from 1 7/8 or stepped 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 from 1 3/4 headers?

Default Would I gain anything from 1 7/8 or stepped 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 from 1 3/4 headers?

I currently have 1 3/4 stainless steel Kooks headers and was wondering if I would gain anything from going to 1 7/8 or stepped 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 headers? The heads are still completely stock and so is the bottom end, but I do have a large cam (T-Rex). I'm pushing 408 rwhp through a fully built 200-4R, loose unlocked converter (PT4400), Strange 12 bolt w/a 4.10 gear, on slicks. I have every bolt on out there on the car. Looking to squeeze every last HP out of the setup. Thanks.

I would say for the money you spend getting the new headers that what little gains if any would not be worth it. The bigger headers are angled more towards strokers or forced induction engines.

The stepped headers are usually worth 5 to 7 rwhp across the board. I think they would help on your setup a lil.

As for cost, when you sell yours and buy the new ones its almost a break even deal....

BTW, I have a set of stepped 1 3/4 x 1 7/8 if interested Shoot me a PM

Anyone else have an opinion as to whether not I'll see any gains?

Yes you will gain power...It will make more power going to a stepped or a straight 1 7/8 header over the 1 3/4....Just do a search for the independent testing that Car Craft did with the different LS1 headers a few issues ago.

Ive seen stock internal cars gain quite a bit actually going from 1 3/4 to 1 7/8.

I emailed thunder about using the edelbrock stepped headers with their Trex cam. Geoff emailed me back saying they prefer 1 3/4" with 3" collecter.

Sounded like the bigger pipes hurt torque and only provide gains at high rpms.
