Exclamation Some Advice..

Just about to do a H/C swap.

VPE Stage3 Heads 5.3L (flow 326 @ .600"), FMS 13 114+4, Double Roller Chain, SLP Oil, ASP U/D Pulley & Alt, Crane 1.7 Gold Race RR, Crane Hardened Chromoly Pushrods, Ls6 intake, stock ported TB,

w/ 2800 stall, Custom 4L65e, 3.73

Question is should I replace my lifters? If so what kind (comp, comp R, etc..)
Anything else you recommed replacing...(besides the bottom end)??

Going into a 99 z28 w/ 60K miles.

Just wondering what others would do...

Also anybody have a similar setup? What kind of power #s am I lookin at? I hope to be able to pull over 400rwhp, is this possible w/ a good tune?

I did because I was in there already, plus I went with the 1.8 Gold Cranes. I used Morel.

You could pull over 400 rwhp. If you don't but are close, don't sweat it. Autos don't always show the power on the dyno but they put it to the ground. Ever consider going higher than 2800 on the stall? That's kinda low for a SI LS1, let alone heads/cam.

I would replace the lifters too if it were me. OEM's or the Comp Cams replacements seem to be the ticket. I don't like when people try to guess someones power. Dyno that bad boy and let us know. I'm sure you will be happy with that setup. Did you mean to say SLP oil pump? What head gaskets are you going to use? Don't forget the extra oil pump o-ring!

That's what I was thinking. What's the powerband like with that F13 cam? 114 with 4 degrees ground in will lower the peak numbers correct? Regardless, I'd go with a 3500 stall. I'm looking at the torquer v. 2 which has similar specs and I figured a 3500-3800 stall would be optimal.

Don't use the Comp R's. Use the Comp OEM replacements, Melling, Or Morel. I would go for the Melling. They are a good replacement Lifter and Futral recommends them for their cams. Price is lower than the Comp's too.

Just stay away from the Comp R's. Do a search on them and you'll quickly see why.

Ditto, I wouldnt use Comp R's either, PITA to setup. Got Morels in my new shortblock.

I went with some OE GM headgaskets, I have always had good luck going oem. (Which ones you guys recommend or prefer.. Why?)

Go with new lifters, but stay away from comp r....

Any other info, tips etc.... I will be doing the install in about a week.

I went with a .045 Cometic gasket just to get a tighter quench and makes for less to mill off the heads to get a little more compression. They aren't cheap though. The OEM's are a good choice just a little thicker. The Comp R's are meant for adjustable rockers. No need to go that complicated, expensive route. One thing I did before I removed my heads was to remove the block plugs. That allows all the water to drain out the block and I had no water to clean from the head bolt holes or the cylinders when I pulled the heads.
