Racing 41 is the better choice for the LS1. I've seen oil analysis results in the LS1 with Racing 41 and it does very well. Racing 21 is a bit too thin for hard use in this engine.

I use Mobil 1 5W-30 and it works fine! No complaints here!

I'm not a big fan of either RP 5w30 or M1 5w30 for that matter, neither one of those would ever go in my LS1. RP racing 41 would definitely be ok for daily driving, I've seen people go 5000 miles on it and it still has reserve left. So even though it's a racing oil, it does have what it needs to be used on the street too.

What would you recommend for easy access and for a daily driving/ race car?
Redline is hard to get and so is the german stuff. RP and M1 are both stocked at Napa. And what is special about Rp 41??

It just seems to be the right viscosity for this engine, the thinner 30wt oils just don't seem to work too well in the LS1 (which is why so many people consume oil)

The oils I like for the LS1 are German Castrol 0w30, Castrol 5w40, Amsoil 5w40 and RP 41. Redline is also a good choice, but pricey. Mobil 1 5w40 is also pretty good. I'm not too keen on their 0w40 anymore since they reformulated, it doesn't seem to show as good wear numbers in the LS1 family of engines.

I'm running German Castrol 0w30 with awesome results! I'm about to change my oil this weekend, it'll have 8000 miles on it. My oil level has not changed for this entire interval! I'll post my oil analysis results here next week.
