Default How to replace sail panel speakers?

I bought a new Monsoon 6.5 inch speaker for my passenger side sail panel. ($54.29 delivered)

Is there any tricks needed to remove/replace the speaker?

Does the entire plastic panel adjacent to the rear seat have to come out (I hope not)?

Thanks all.

The grill will pop right off. Unbolt the 4 bolts holding it in. Pull speaker out, and unclip wires attached to it. Install in reverse order.

Be careful when removing the grill. You may have to use a screw driver to release the clips if they dont give on their own.

Other than that, You'll need a 1/4" or 5/16" socket to loosen the screws holding the speaker in place.

It is that easy, unless you are like me and are 6'7" and can barely fit back there.

No, only 6', 230, but it's still a struggle to get in and out from there.

It was. Just was puzzled by the little clips that go in the holes for the screw threads. I only found one, but new they were all screwed in tightly so the others musts have been there.

They were stuck to the old speaker magnet! Sucked up to it on the way out.

I can only fit in the drivers seat. No passenger riding here!

My 6.5" speaker doesn't take up the entire hole in the sial panels.. I guess the hole is 6 and 3/4" ? The edge of the speaker (metal frame) hits the hole, but the holes where the screws go dont meet up with the car.. its just air behind it. Any suggestions?

You might have to make an adapter ring out of MDF. 1/4" should be fine.
