Default How should I change this before I actually paint it on my hood?

So I'm going to paint my stock T/A hood in hopes of selling it since noone wants to buy a regular non- ram air hood (even tho its in perfect condition). I figured I'd do a test before I actually went thru with it and painted it on my hood. So I'd appreciate your feedback. What are your likes and dislikes? What would you want to change? This is about 3/4 scale of the one I'm going to paint on the hood. It is on cardboard, so the colors don't jump out as much as if they would if it were painted on a non porus surface (like a hood ) Looking forward to you helping me with this project. TIA guys

i LOVE it, i would kill for that kind of talent. i agree with Jack though, i would leave it just with the bird. I think the flames from the mouth are a bit too much, it looks almost more.....better with just the bird. You must do this and post pictures.

Hmm interesting. I did the flames from the mouth to do a throwback to the earlier firebirds that did have them. I guess the general consensus is they are out of place on the newer one. I kind of like them, but if noone else does then I'll leave them off.

So no other critiques or anything else you think I should change?

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

If you can see it through the glass, I like that version of the bird better.

Same bird with these lights.

I think that is the early 70's style bird. Nothing wrong with that, but since it is going on an 02 hood, I just figured I'd use the cooresponding generation style I have a friend at work tho who is wanting me to paint the 79 bird on his 79 T/A hood. But it is the one with all the feathers. That'd take forever to do Not sure I want to.

Dammit, I was gonna do that, I talked to Stryker14 about it like a month ago, just haven't gotten around to it yet. Oh well, I have another flame idea I can do for mine anyway. By the way, it looks killer! But I agree, lose the flame from the mouth...

Now that I looked at it some more, if you really want to put the flame from the mouth, just do the lower one... the second one is a bit much... it breaks the shape line of the bird. Otherwise it looks great! Post pics of the hood when you get it done!!!!

I put one on my hood about 4.5 years ago. It looks awesome and really draws some attention if that is what you are looking. I have it on the raptor ram air hood. Mine was one solid color though. Yours looks awesome.

The cool thing about that style bird is each individual piece already has a flame kind of shape to it. So keeping that in mind don't make the lines around each piece /shape so noticable. Basiclly what I'm saying is it looks like the firebird logo, w/flames paited on top of it. Turn each piece into more of it's own flame shape and lose the outline. You know what I mean. Not that i could do any better than what you have done, just another fellow artists opinion.

Interesting... I hadn't thought about it that way. Maybe I'll make the overall shapes/ lines more of a ghost effect than actual hard layout.
