my console however came from a camaro... it has the following options

You replaced the interior of your 1995 firebird with that of a '00-'02 camaro. Camaros had the option of selecting all the gears with the gear shifter/selector, firebirds did not (IIRC). Although firebirds did have a performance button or something. The 4L60E from the LT1 and LS1 are similar, but not the same. The LS1 has a longer input shaft. The 4L80E was used on 6.0L trucks/SUVs and had similar gear ratios as the TH400, but with a .62 over drive.
You have a 4L60E, which will work with either interior you have. Be sure to use the shifter from a camaro to be certain you can select all the gears. I am not sure if the firebirds had a different shifter assembly.

i am actually in the process of doin some work on a 95 4l60e myself, mine was dropped(literally), if you have a good casing i have perfect rebuilt internals... pm me if your interested, i can sell it to you for pretty cheap(i cant use it cuz the bellhousing is cracked)
the problem with the 95 4l60e is that its the only one that will fit in a 95 firebird for the auto tranny setup, you cant use a 93, 94, 96, or 97 cuz they are all very different, the 96+ are all obd2 so the wiring is COMPLETELY different, the 94 you can use if you rewire the torque converter lock up from the harness to the pcm, (from what im to understand). and i think the 93 has a different output shaft setup(but im not sure on that one) anyway, i did a lot of research on the swapping, and your best bet would be to find just a 95 and use that or if your good with wiring get a 94 and set up the harness for your car(thats what im doin with mine right now)

also that little button everyone talks about on here that says perform for the transmission is supposed to be a line pressure control switch, just a boost in the pressure applied to the tranny, for harder, firmer shifts... least thats what i have been told... ????

2xls1 is right, only the 3.23 cars got the 1 option, although its a very easy mod to remove the console cover and notch the shifter and you will have the 1 option!
