Default QTP LT's and Gmmg? (Bullet Muffler Related)

I have this current setup right now, with cats, but i keep having cats go out, after my cam install, the cats have last maybe 3 weeks now and one has already gone out again. so im thinking its time to lose the cats. I curious as to what you guys suggest to do for minimizing the rasp, im of course looking at a bullet muffler of sorts in the I pipe. would that be sufficent you think. What kind of muffler do you think, just a dynomax or would a borla xr-1 be a better choice, and if the borla is better, do you guys with one have any fitment issues. Just looking for a general idea of what to do since the cats are just killing me since they keep dying left and right now. Figured its time to just buy a muffler and do away with the cats and the endless money pit they have become. Thanks for any help and suggestions you can give me.

I would say just about any 18 inch bullet would do the trick for the rasp.

i'd say just run the ory and gmmg, i do...you learn how to drive around the rasp...when im going through the 2000-2400 range, i just let off the gas alil and cruise right through it without having rasp....but if you want to get a muffler, i seen a xr1 welded in the I pipe before that looked really clean...

Would you loose any power if you put an XR-1 muffler in the I-pipe?

i DON'T SEE YOU LOSING ANY POWER IF YOU PUT AN XR IN THE I PIPE MAYBE 1 OR 2 DEPENDING ON YOUR SETUP OR YOU MIGHT EVEN GAIN A COUPLE DEPENDING

I would just scrap the whole setup and by the amount of money you are spending on cats. get a true dual setup. sounds great like a true muscle car.

that would work, but i cant scrap a gmmg exhaust, i love that exhaust. so that isnt really a option for me. thats the only reason im looking into a bullet

I would go with the XR1 also, they are stainless so will match the rest of the exhaust, will kill more of the rasp, the only drawback is that you will have to "massage" the floorboard to get the clearance you will need to make it fit, that's where a bullet may be better for you.

The smaller bullets like the dynomax aren't going to be enough, the borla will do a much better job and has a screen running down the length that helps kill rasp. The fit is tight but will clear with about 1/2 inch between the floor board. Another option is for about $100, stainless works will make you a chambered section with a 3" core for the I pipe and you can squeeze about 20 to 24" of chambered in there. That won't be as effective as the borla but will be more effective than the bullet and maintain the chambered tone - also looks really cool!

BTW, unless you have a monster cam in there, you should not be wasting the cats, I would have the tune checked.

The bullet in the I-pipe cut out about 90% of my rasp. Much more solid tone out of the system. Should have done it a long time ago.

im guessing part of the reason the cats are going is vibration, that side of the y pipe gets alot shaking during idle and may be causing the cat to rattle loose. either or, may as well free up some horsepower outta this and not have to deal with replacing them again. this is my 2nd set of cats now, and id rather not go through it again.
