I am going from a hooker catback to a dual/dual muffler. I am buying just the muffler so far.

Will I be able to use the hooker over the axle pipe to the dual/dual muffler??

I don't have the muffler yet but from what I have seen the dual/dual has a standard pipe sticking out to attach to the over the axle pipe. The hooker has a three bolt flange.

Can I just cut the flange off the hooker pipe??

Has anyone done this??

Yes, you can do this. Then just weld the over-axle-pipe to the inlet of the new muffler.

No, I did not do this.

Pipe is pipe. If the OD of the over-axle-pipe is the same as the OD of the inlet on the muffler then you just cut off the 3 bolt flange on the inlet of the muffer and then weld the similar OD over-axle-pipe to the inlet.

Why not buy a 3 bolt flange from Autozone and have it welded to the dual/dual muffler before you install it. Probably cost you a total of 20 bucks to have that done.

That's not a bad idea, I have a welder.

The pipe size is probably the same size. I just don't know if the pipe will be in the right location for where the new muffler will be.

I would prefer to know this before I take the old system off.

Well, the flange is like a ring that just slides over the existing pipe, you can tack weld when you try and line it up in case you need to make any changes, but I'm sure if you have an extra set of hands to hold the muffler in place where it needs to be, you can line the flange up pretty dead on with the OTA pipe.
