Default Average T-56 rebuild price?

I have a tranny that needs to be rebuilt. 3rd geear syncro is burnt and maybe has a bent 3-4 fork. I want new syncros, carbon blockers, and steel fork... what else? Would $250 cover the labor? What have you guys paid? Any advise? Big thanks!

Thanks for all the pricing info. Are the billet keys worth the money? This car is not my daily driver, but I do give it hell on certain weekends. I go to the track about 4 times a year. I don't have the power level to need the hardened input or output shafts yet. I have to do the whole exhaust at the same time so money is on my mind.

The 3-4 billet keys are a good idea. This is a common failure on the T56. G-Force has them for 75. D&D is 99. I have not heard of many people breaking the stamped 1-2, so your probably ok there. New 1-2 keys will come as part of the basic rebuild kit.
Personally I think that the upgraded output and input shafts are a bit of overkill until you get into the really crazy horsepower levels. Taner is still running a stock input/output shaft F-body T56.

I am also a bit sceptical of all these "Viper Internals" that folks are paying for. I would want to know EXACTLY what is included is this upgrade. Just telling me that a tranny has Viper internals tells me nothing. I know of and understand the 30 spline output shaft upgrade, but I doubt that is what these people are getting when the go the "Viper Internals" route.

Ooops. that was a bit of going off on a tanget.

Madss- pretty good feed back... glad you looking in on the post. I have a lil' more insight (stamped is fine for 1-2 and billit 3-4 is a good upgrade) so when I speak to the shop they will know not to take me for a ride. I'm hesitant to send this out of state because I can use the freight charges to put into the parts and labor. I found a place local (Southern Gear)that said it would be $250 for a standard build. Hopefully nothing major is wrong.

It looks like Southern Gear is a distributor of Tremec. Sounds like a good place. When I was looking for someone in FL to do a rebuild for me I called the Tremec District rep and got a recommendation from him on a compatent shop. He gave me a good steer.

Not to hyjack the thread or anything, I just got a ridiculous quote on a rebuild and was wondering how much a new trans would cost to just buy one.

A brand spankin new F-body T56 from sdpc (sponsor ====>) is 2600. Unless it's for a vette and it jumps to 6400

Take a look at some of the reputable builders on one of their completed rebuilds. (www.ddperformance.com among others) The D&D is still in the 2600 range but has already been upgraded.
