Default Vortec Head work, fimiliar? come in here

What screw in studs should I go with? I heard something about spring bosses have to be milled down to run guideplates. What should I use? I'm going with 1.6 rockers, 987 comp springs, titanium retainers.

A worthwhile machine shop will know what needs to be done if you tell them your cam specs, total lift with 1.6 rocker, duration, spring specs, etc. Not sure what a spring boss is but the Valve Guides need to be machined down for added spring lift. Then again, a comp 987-16 spring may use a taller install height, requiring longer valves, etc. Get in good with your machinist. Others should chime in here.

The "stud bosses" will need to be trimmed down to make up for the thickness of the guide plates. I would use ARP screw in studs, especially if you are going to have a lot of spring pressure.
