03 cobra goes 11.2 @ moroso..whoa!!
So i finally decide to go out to the track for the first time in my z06 last friday. i got there around 6pm and i was pacing with this red 03 cobra. he was on stock 17 inch rims with hoosier drag radials. (never seen those tires before). i parked my car to let it cool down after the long 2hr drive up there and decided to just sit and watch before i ran. it is at least 95f outside with so much humidity that standing even under the shadow made you sweat like you were working construction.
well, here comes the red 03 cobra, does the burnout, stages and off he goes. i see 11.6@123mph on the boards. DAMN..first cobra i see in the 11s here in south florida. he kept hot lapping and doing the same time.
About 2 hrs later i see another 03 sonic blue cobra on slicks on a trailer. it sounded pretty nasty and it looked like it i had a solid differential. i am thinking lets see what this one can do.
man, it does its burnout and sounds louder than any other cobra i have ever heard. it stages and down it goes hauling ***. it looked like it was moving. i see a 11.2 @125mph pop up on the boards. he had two more passes with nearly the same e.t's. damn, i was impressed so i walked up to the guy and i see that he is loading the car on to the trailer to go home after doing three passes. i asked him what he had done and he was freaking pis@ed off. he said he is never coming down to moroso again. i glanced at his engine compartment and see a kb supercharger, suspension, it did have solid diff, and he said he had all four cams swapped out as well. he claims 600+ rwhp and that it has gone 10s all day in GA. He looked aggravated as hell and slammed his hood shut so hard that i felt like the supercharger wanted to come out through the hood.
I love it when folks come down here expecting to run strong and only to find out that in the sunshine state (particularly in s florida)it isnt going to happen.
why do you think they dont bring the major drag racing events down here?
anyways, my best pass for the night was a 12.1@114.4mph.
there was a c6 corvette there running in the " no time" class and on the way out of the track he happened to be behind me so we lined up on the highway at a 50mph roll. we let off at about 145mph and i had about a car on him. he rolls down the window and says " i want a copy of this video, i knew i should have bought a z06..what have u done to your z? nothing, just a k&n filter" he nodded and proceeded to roll up his window and leave in disappointment

ya, the weather here can be really good during the winter times. best D.A i have seen so far was -800. cars where flying for us then. my car usualy sees a good 3 to 4 mph increase during the winter months. most the time the D.A was in the 2,000 to 2,500 range during the month of june. August is going to suck ***** for us i don't think seen you at the track. couple of us hang out there alot. most the times we are in the "dial in" lane's. we got a car going tonight to spray a 100 shot for the first time. he went 11.16@123.5 on motor in this rotten air. should be interesting to see how he does on the 100's

Generally speaking, I lose about 4mph and 2 tenths when the weather is shitty. I did run my best in 95* heat with crazy humidity. Not sure of the DA.
whitecamaross - you should see what a KB Cobra does on a 100 shot. They roll out pretty well...135 - 138mph traps are in the realm of possibility.

Cams make Cobras sound wicked as hell. Big money to swamp them though unlike LS1's where any schmoe can do it.

funny you mentioned that. my buddy ran his pullied 04 about a month ago in 90+degree heat at quaker city and went 11.8@120 1.69 60'. a couple weeks later me and him went to pittsburgh raceway which is a verified 1mph faster than quaker city and the whether was about 10+degrees cooler than before and he could only get 12.0@117 1.8 60'. his best mph was 118mph. i thought he would be trapping 121-122 for sure. he even ripped off a 13.2
there was a awesome whipple charged cobra there making 630rwhp 675rwtq @ 20 psi and his best was 11.2@129
