hum, sounds like its from the rear of engine?

Default hum, sounds like its from the rear of engine?

just today i put my ear on the shift knocb and while in gear i could hear a constant humming noise. louder in the car than outside of it, but noticeable, for me at least. i know its vauge but any ideas?

Could be a problem with a synchro in the tranny. I know mine would make a whirring noise going into gear before I got it rebuilt.

well its at idle just sitting there it makes the noise?

Hmm...I know mine whirred in idle going into second. Like if I were going to go around a turn.

can you hear it without your ear on the shifter ****. that will magnify the hell outta any noise (kinda like how you can hear a train coming hundreds of yards away if you put your ear on the tracks.)

sounds like it might be the throw out bearing, does it go away when you push the clutch in?

u have to understand....Mike has can't drive his car now. And now that it has too much power, and has it almost the way he wants it...he has to invent **** to go wrong with it..lol..sorry mike..had to get jokes..

lol thanks ben, i can hear it without my ear on there. clutch in and out it makes the noise. i dont know if it could be normal valve train noise with the cam or what? just wanting to figure it out

im just trying to look for ideas on what to check. i dont know if the cam being bigger will just make that noise, or the airflow through the heads or what. its hard to hear it at speed or higher rpms cause the car is so loud, maybe i need it louder so this noise will be unnoticeable lol
