New LS1 Owners - Newbie Tech - performance gurus please help

which is a better setup for a daily driver in terms of reliability and overall performance (tr224 and afr 205) or (ati procharger with 5-7 psi.) ...car is an 02 ss m6 with kooks LT, high flow cats, gmmg, lid, throttle body....please help guys.

reliable... and the word boost most often dont go hand in hand...

a 224 cam and afr heads will net you a very quick car, and be a breeze to tune for most tuners...

although i love the idea of boost, the cam and heads will be a little more "reliable". that doesnt mean you can beat on it ALL the time! :jest:

if i was going to spend the money on some boost you might as well drop some cheese on a forged block and just rape the street

I'd love to do a forged setup and a blower but it costs a crazy amount of money...like usually over 10 grand...I just want something really fun on the street without the fear of blowing something up...the only thing holding me back from heads and cam is the fear of breaking a spring

when you buy afr 205, they come will springs that will be PLENTY for the baby 224 cam ;)

I know I know...but then why do I hear about these horror stories about broken springs? I mean I don't rev the crap outta my car and I don't bounce off the limiter so what else would I have to worry about?

You won't break AFR springs with a tr224. Horror stories come from people using big cams on crappy springs. Or from beating on it when it is cold. Or from having performance springs and a cam for 50,000 miles without changing them out.

broken springs are usually a product of running the motor hard before it is warmed up. It may not happen right away, but eventually the wear will get to it. Also really big cams can wear out a spring. The 224 is a very mild cam by todays standards. There are always exceptions, but if I were you, I wouldnt worry bout a broken spring w/those heads & cam.
