Default Adding on a WS6 hood... Need advice

I have a Trans Am, and I'm looking to add the WS6 hood with airbox and whatnot. The cheapest road i can find is going with these guys.

http://www.ramairhood.com/store/scri...p?idproduct=33

About $1300 for pkg6 shipped to my door. Anyone know of any cheaper vendors with similar packages?

And would it be less expensive to do the paint with a pro shop? I don't have the means to do a paint job on my own.

first off you dont need the airbox. get the hood and paint and thats it. then buy a lid if you dont have one and your good to go!!

personally id get a suncoast hof of your choice, more effective ram air

the airbox isnt that great unless you can seal it liek bg ram air, toob ad the only hood ive seen that lines up well enough to seal with foam, is the stock one

so air box = useless?

I was under the impression that the airbox is what adds the functionality to the hood... This is incorrect?

If this is the case, how much would it cost to get paint+coat done on this hood?

no, this is correct, but unless the airbox is sealed it only takes so much air in before the rest of the air goes over the engine instead of into the intake, an air lid woudl add mroe horsepower than an air box would.

if iw ere you id get this system http://www.lmperformance.com/875/1.html
about $1250 total shipped and THAT air box setup is effective.

and as for painting i tihnk your better off painting ti after insteall isntead of getting pre painted, just incase it needs to be slightly trimed or hav other work done to it to have it look right

just get one off ebay, thats where i got mine. then i got into an accident and had a factory hood installed. I think i paid 600 shipped from ebay, hood was awesome. had it painted for around 180, installed it myself.

i was thinking of going with this hood, has anyone bought from this site?

That is just a ws6 air box system, comes factory on a ws6. It can be made funtional with the bg kit but IMO not as effective as the suncoast kit.

It does include the air housing. I'm not sure you understand or maybe I don't. Lets leave the hood out all together for a second. The air housing that comes with ramairhoods.com kit is nothing but a ws6 air housing, basicly looks the same as what you have on a factory non ws6 trans am, just a taller opening at the front. These can be had on ebay cheap. now suncoasts hood is something all together different. It is a square open filter box that seals to the hood and where it seals to the hood the hood itself has a square cut in it making it forced ram air. use this link and then click on the pic to see the airbox. Hope this helps.http://www.lmperformance.com/875/1.html

i've got an aftermarket ram air hood and the BG ram air seals up just fine on mine. it did take a little drilling and such but now it looks and functions like it should.

wow, it must be nice to be right more than wrong. i have no idea what that is like(according to my g/f!). but back to the ram air thing, once i got the main mod lined up and drilled properly, everything lined up fairly nice. i can post some pics up of it installed if you guys want.

my bg ram air consisted of some self adhesive 1"x3/4" polyurithane foam, it works well, but my flow is a little more.......turbulant? than yource, sice my nostrals arent quite as smooth, but ti does work decently and only cost me lik5 bucks, sintead of 255 hehehe

I got one from Ramairhood.com, I had them paint it. It was a dead on match with my color. I like it, but don't get the whole kit, you can get all that other stuff later on this board for alot cheaper. Here's a pic.

That one from RamAir looks the closet to OEM that I've seen. Looks good.
