Default Going to race my buddy in his A4.

A buddy of mine has a 2002 SS with the same mods as my self, my mods are in my sig, Long Tube Headers, Exhaust, Pulley,Throttle body. Except he does not have a Torque Converter.
I am sure I will beat him from a Dig. Can I beat him from a Roll with my TCI 3500 stall?

You should rape him from a dig and still beat him from a roll as well.

You should kill him from a dead stop or a roll.

depends on what speed you race him from a roll.
the higher the speed you race him from, the more advantage he has.
converter efficiency starts to play a roll and the stock converter has more efficiency up top.

Race him from a high roll just to see how ineffecient your converter is compared to stock.

Believe it or not, some can be more efficient than stock. Not many, but some.

Is the only guy that states that I will loose at top end. How come everyone says that I will take him but a few, 1 or 2, people say he will take me up top?? I am confused.

And that depends on the converter. My SY3500, with its efficiency rating of 97%, is more efficient than the stock converter. Besides, "efficiency" doesn't compute to winning races. A high-stall converter, efficient or not, is going to put your motor into the meat of its power band faster and that's what wins races, not its efficiency rating.

I never see stock converter cars beating high-stall ones.

Depends on the converter, what converter did you have? That way we can stay away from it

Well alot depends on who is faster, or more hp to (DUH). Hell there may be a 20 hp swing either way depending on the car. I say you'll spin to much from the dig and he'll get ahead but thats a perfect world race which it won't be. Go race and find out.

I think an F-body vs F-body race would have been different. The very first thing I noticed when I went from my modded '99 Camaro SS to my then bone-stock '00 Corvette was how much stronger the 'Vette felt at 100+ mph. I don't know if it was the tranny gearing, aerodynamics, lighter weight, or a combination of all these factors, but the C5 is a lot stronger top-end car than the F-body. You had more going on there than the "converter factor."
