Hi, I just bought a WS6 TA and sometimes when I get in the car, the radio numbers are all messed up. The digital display I mean. It looks like upsides F's appearing all the way across, I cant see the clock, or what station im listening to. So I shut the car off and restart it and then its fine. But it does this occasiaonlly. Anyone else have this same type of problem? If so, how do you fix it? Please help

I've seen this in many F-Bodies.. not uncommon at all.. not sure what might be causing this, but the player will still work fine.. If you let it play [w/o re-starting] it'll *fix* the display in a few mins by itself!

I've gone through 2 headunits that did this.
The dealership replaced it both times.
The first one did it after 2yrs and the second one did it a year later.
They were both covered by the warranty.

Damn. I know it still works but its stupid as hell to have to wait for it to work properly. I just put a new battery in it, cause the 99 had the original battery, and it worked fine when I started it up. So, maybe a new battery was the trick? Who knows. I doubt its still covered under warranty. I would have to pay for them to put a new one in and work on it.

same here.. right when i purchased my 98 TA it had no problems with the display. Now everyone once in a while it gives a garbled display. Apparently its a known defect in monsoon decks. Gonna replace mine soon (under warr) anyway. But yeah its annoying pretty much.

Is there anyone that is "officially" satisfied with a stock stereo?

i think the radio and sound are great. But don't you think GM should have had a recall or fixed the problem in these cars? So, now I will have to pay a dealership to look at it, pay labor fees, pay them to put a new radio, and still not be guaranteed that it will work fine? thats total crap

you'd be much better off just getting an aftermarket Head unit !

1 - It'll be cheaper [ as in cost, not quality lol ]

and,

2 - It'll sound better and have more useable features

I don't see ANY reason to go to a dealership for stereo issues.. They'll just rip you off BAD!!

In my case, the two I went through were covered under warranty so they were free. :burn:

You can pick one up on ebay for less than $ 150 ( a lot less some times).
