if its an option build a box in the trunk portion of the hatch, firing upward.. you get the best sound, specially if your in a sealed box... otherwise, dont mess with the jl box.. the airspace requirements are pretty stringent and that box is built for the sub it came with (a w6 i think???) if you know what amount of airspace that box moves you may be able to match a speaker to it, but weather or not it will sound better i dont know.

the box
The box in that picture is a plastic thunderform MtX stealth box. I'm assuming that all the stealth boxes that are built for the camaro are going to be pretty much the same. This one came with the car self amplified with a paper thunderform mtx sub. The amp went out, so I tried to fix it as nicely as I could, and as cheap as I could. I had a Rockford amp laying around from my last camaro. Circuit City is having a great deal on MTX supersubs, so I got one for only 90 dollars. Mtx subs are awesome for the price. I drilled a hole in the back of the box, and put the supersub in there. Sounds better than my 2 12" jlw3's I had in my 95 camaro (lost the pics )
I know there are people going to have their educated, and uneducated opinions on this setup. I do know that it thumps very hard for the box size, and the quality is awesome.
a very nice 10" sub with a nice amp in a camaro in that position will sound/feel a lot more powerful than a lot of other cars out there. Due to the fact that the trunk acts like a double box, and there isn't anything to dampen the bass the sub and your face. <-poet and didn't even know it

easy fix, subthump stealth box, much cheaper than JL or MTX, plus get a JL10w6v.2 seperately from a retailer, or online (cheaper) and your done. I ordered a stealth box from JL and it comes with the w3. I wanted the w6 but it didn't fit, and they were going to charge lots more to modify the box. I decided to just get the JL 10w6v2 seperately and get an enclosure after. The subthump stealth box is top notch, just like anyone of their boxes. My suggestion though if your going to get one from subthump call and order it and specify what sub is going into it, this way there is no mix ups or anything if a spacer plate is needed. good luck

How much power are you pushing at the sub? Have you explored the fact that you might not be pushing the sub with enough eeemmmmpph??
I have a stealthbox being pushed by an older Kenwood PS300t amp http://kenwood.vdlabs.ru/power_aplifier/kac-ps300t.html and it hits pretty hard. Granted I bet some guys are going to find 30 different amps better, but I have no complaints. I can actually feel it rattle the hair on the back of my neck.

The differences between the two subs is amazing. The RF hits much more solidly with little or no distortion and is very accurate.
I am pushing it with 400 WRMS fron my Lanzar VIBE 531 bridged mode. 200 WRMS (fronts) 400 WRMS (Sub)
