Default Should I cut out my cat. conv?

Ok I have a 94 T/A with Mac midlength headers, ORY, and magnaflow exhaust. My question is should I cut out my cat? About what do I gain from it, performance and sound wise? Because I also heard that if I cut it out my car will backfire more and louder. And if I do cut it out what is it replaced with? Isn't it just a piece of metal tubing that fits into the spot?

Performance maybe 2-3 RWHP....in other words not much...sound wise you'll pick up more rasp, which is desirable to some people and annoying to others...I've got pacesetter long tubes with no cats and a magnaflow and in hindsight I wish I would have left my cats on...although others seem to love the sound...

And if I do cut it out what is it replaced with? Isn't it just a piece of metal tubing that fits into the spot?

Yup, or get yourself a pre-fabbed off-road Y-pipe if Mac makes them for their headers.
