Z06 MAF..No MAF???? Can't decide! Need help!
I just have been debating for a long time about chagning my MAF sensor on my car.. Most people say not to touch them but others say they feel a difference when they change them.. Realy leaves me hanging..
I heard the 85mm Z06 Maf was the best bang for the buck and you can pick them up for around $150-200.. Unless there are better ones for the price?
But would the gains be worth it with the mods in my sig? That stock maf just looks restrictive.. I already took the screen off it though so i just don't know for sure..
Let me know what you guys think and if you have dyno proven results?

Not a good idea to mess with the MAF. The screen is there for a reason.
You can pick up a GM 85mm MAF off ebay for around $25. I got mine for $23 complete with the intake plumbing shipped to my door.
I have since removed the MAF and am currently running in OLSD. I may, in the future put the MAF back in just to see if I can tune it.

well it sounds like i better not touch the maf then! Thanks guys.. i couldn't decide whether to or not.. but it makes sense that the stock ones can handle a lot.. and they all the aftermarket ones do it lean it out a little.. Thanks guys i appreciate your time!

I'm personally running an 85mm, 5-wire truck MAF (with the imbedded IAT sensor), but I'm also running a closed loop speed density tune, so I'm not worried about ever tuning the damn thing. I probably could if I wanted, but it is running really well without it...if I ever need to get an emissions check done, I'll probably need to fix it, but I'll cross that bridge when I get there.
All I know is that when I put this on along with a TSP 85mm lid, my VE values changed quite a bit. It must have done something...

I left mine in, but my MAF tables are all zeroed out, so it can't use it as a reference for the airflow calculations. Essentially, you use a wideband O2 sensor as the truth source for your actual air/fuel ratio, and you adjust your VE table according to what you are commanding vs. what you are actually getting (as verified by the wideband). Then the airflow calculations become a "lookup only" type of value, where the computer is simply referencing a table instead of a real time source (the MAF). Essentially, you are telling the computer how much air the engine is ingesting, and it adds the proper amount of fuel based off of the VE table.
