putting in 'verter soon
i will soon be putting in my new fuddle 4000/2.4, and was wondering if there is anything i will need to know. ive dropped trannies before(never in an LS1) and two buddies will be helping me, and we will have a lift. anything specific i will need/need to know?
also, i figured i will change the fluid while im at it, car has 40,000 miles. can anyone tell me aprox. how much fluid i will need( for tq.verter and tranny). and what is the best fluid to use?
thanks in advance,
anthony

I had mine done at a shop, but just an FYI, you might need a mild tune for a converter that big, I had a yank PT 4400 put on and it threw codes until it was tuned.... again just an FYI.

Dexron/Mercon III fluid, and amount will very from tranny to tranny... depends on how much you drain and how much the converter holds, etc. Buy 9 quarts to be on the safe side. You may have 1-2 left over, and remember that an external tranny cooler will take another 1-1.5 qts of fluid

the last converter i put in (1800 stall) I put one quart of tranny fluid into the converter. It should hold one quart, if not then just as close as you can get it. i'm not sure if it makes a difference but this was in a Th400 transmission.
