Default How long is my 4L60E gonna last?

Recently i spun a bearing in my 98 TA, so i am putting in a 408 ls1 stroker from HPE. i got a cam with the 408 but am using the stock heads till i can afford new ones. Also i have headers on back and 3.73 rear. have all the bolt on suspension upgrades as well. so ill have over 400 to the wheels but my question is how long will my 4L60E last me with the power. oh and im having a 3600 stall TC, shift kit, and tranny cooler put on as well.

No way to tell for sure. It won't last forever though.

No matter how you look at it, it's time to start saving for a tranny rebuild.

If you stay away from roll races and don't let it get too hot...it CAN last for a while.

Yeah, roll races on the auto trannies, especially ones that make you down shift into 2nd gear are very hard on them.

The Max Evil was $2k, plus about $130 for vacuum modulation. Got it through Speed inc. (www.ls1speed.com)

Even with a transgo you should not shift your transmission manually!

Just put it in D and drive.

You'll see this phrase over and over. Forget whatever you read, you still shouldn't manually shift your 4L60E.

I would guess you'd be making about 450-480rwhp with that set up? Should last for awhile, I've beaten the **** out of my original trans and it's still hanging in. Get a tranny temp gauge too, that way you'll know when to go easy on it.

nice thats what i like to hear. tell me you are running 10's with the stock 4l60E. with the 2.73 rear too thats impressive, changing from that to my 3.73 was a huge acceleration change i cant imagine what going from slightly modded 350 ls1 to a 408 stroker is gonna be like

We have been beating on a stock 60e in a ext cab 5200# silverado that runs 13's@106 for a while now no signs of trouble. Just a shift kit and billet super servos.
