new mufflers(Borla XR-1's TD's)
Well,
Just finished getting the car all washed and clean for the Upcoming NvsS shootout, and decided i'd snap a quick pic of my new mufflers i got. I have the TSP True Duals, and recently added Borla Bullet style mufflers.
My impressions: I was really expecting these things to quiet down the exhaust alot. All i hear is that the normal mufflers that come on TSP's kit(which is what i had) is way too loud, and that the Borla's are a much more mellow tone. I was scared i'd lose all my cam noise(and that is what i live for!).....anyways, i was pleasently suprised that these Borla's SCREAM around 6600rpm! They actually sound a little meaner, and let the cam thump a little harder at idle than my old bullet mufflers did! They also have a faint "metallic" ping to them under certain loads, but not enough to call them Flowmasters. It's almost like a Borla catback on the car, but with alot more *****!
I highly reommend these things to anyone considering them, but worried about losing all the sound they have now. These things only mellow down the exhaust when it matters most:cruising. I can now actually listen to my radio!!!
Don't pick on me too much for ground clearance. I don't personally think it's too bad. I have dragged my Hookery ORY more than this setup!

Looks good Tim, glad my old (but never used) mufflers made it to a good home. Can't wait to hear them. I just hope they dont sound THAT much better than my Spiral Flows. I'd rather not spend the money over again just to get the perfect sound, but I guess we'll see tomorrow at NvS. Very glad you like them man.
Now...
Where is that "this thread is worthless without a soundclip" smiley at? :p

Well, here she is. It's a very rough clip of the car, but figured, might as well go ahead and do it while i still had the camera in the car from the NvsS shootout. What do you guys think?

How does it feel? It feels awesome. It has outperformed all my expectations. W/o a pulley, and a good tune from Gomer on Ls1tech.com here, the car made 430/400. More importantly, it is making the power early, and carrying it for a good part of the powerband. That keeps it a lot of fun on the street, unlike many other big cam cars.
I have no worries with the addition of a fast 90/90, and a pulley, it would easily pull 450/410. Right now though, it's making more than enough power. I just need to get it to the ground.

Yea, I was coming back up to the camera, and just couldn't resist the opportunity. I almost went dead perfect over it. Anyways, it was cool to sorta get an up close look at the exhaust too! hahaha
