Default Tranny Dowel pins

Hey guys...just a quick question. the dowel pins that go in the block, for the tranny to line up with, do i absolutely need these...im swaping my 4l60e outta my v6 to the new v8 thats in the car and i cant get the old ones outta my v6 block...gm dealers do not carry these as an after market part...maybe home depot or something at lowes could work??? thanks guys

Smile Pins or no pins?

Yes, you will need the dowel pins to align the bellhousing exactly to the block. I work at a transmission shop and see cars missing the pins coming in with broken flywheels from misalignment.....
