Default (pics) im tired of my 35th anniversary stripes. i need help!!!

just as the title says, im tired of the stripes. I want to take them off, and its been there for about 2 years, so i know there will be a lot of residue stuck on. I was thinking it would be best to take it to a body shop? Would a body shop be able to remove and maybe buff off the residue and make it as if the stripes were never on? What do you guys suggest? is this task simple enough that i could do it myself? Let me know

I think if you take them off you will have an outline of where they once were. the paint underneath has been protected for two years while the rest hasnt. Im not an expert though, just a thought.

great logic but body shops can do wonders... call up a good shop and see what they say!

They can polish your hood and lessen any paint variances.

Is it a factory 35th Anniversary car? Has it set outside a lot? If so, that red paint has probably faded enough during the last two years that the paint underneath the vinyl stripes is gonna stick out like a sore thumb.

If it's a 35th anniversary car, DON'T take off the stripes. You'd have to be nuts. If not, that's an entirely different story.

lemme see, I wanan see how it'll look like with the strips, may do it on mine, and for the fad thing, just depends on where you live at, i know in AZ it really bad for the paint if you dont protect it and it is really obvious, just depends on where you are at and how you took care of the paint.

Take em off and be prepared to buff your life out, alot of polish and wax and you "should" be good to go, but i would say just take it to some place and have them do it.
